Standing Up for yourself
One thing I have learned during my process of becoming a better me is that standing up for myself is far more challenging than it seems.
Have you ever been in an uncomfortable situation and you just want to say something but you feel too shy? Well, let me tell you don't! Stand up for yourself in your weakest moments so they can see how strong you really are. I've once stumbled across a quote that says "If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything" -Alexander Hamilton. That made me realize that I am not weak, I am not shy, I am not who people say I am and I am definitely not what the world thinks I am or what they say about me.
When you realize who you are and start standing up for yourself, people will immediately take offense when you tell them that you don't like how you are treated or spoken to. Yet they never stopped to think about how their actions made you feel at that very moment. You see people want respect but they are not willing to give it.
Let me be the one to tell you today that you are worthy to be heard. You are beautiful and standing up for yourself is not a crime so shine in the darkness (even in loadshedding) and do not be just one of them, be one of a kind.
Standing up for yourself sometimes means you will have to stand alone, but at the end of the day, that is perfectly fine because dead fish go with the flow.
I was once faced with a giant in my life that I had to stand up to or it would have ruined my mental health. I was broken down to the bone till the only one I had left was myself and that is when I realized that standing up for myself, standing on my own feet, standing on my own emotions, and taking action was the best thing that could have happened to me. In the worst moments of my life, I found myself and I really hope that you will find yourself too because you deserve to be standing up for yourself. Do it for your younger self.
